TCMB Banknote Printing
he exclusive privilege of printing and issuing banknotes in Türkiye belongs solely to the CBRT. The Central Bank prints money aligned with structural economic requirements, such as economic growth, shifts in cash demand, and the replacement of worn-out currency. This highly secure process is meticulously carried out at the Banknote Printing Plant in Ankara, using sophisticated technologies and advanced security features like watermarks to prevent counterfeiting.
The official currency of the Republic of Türkiye is the Turkish lira, represented by the symbol “₺” and the international currency code “TRY.” The banknotes currently in circulation belong to the “E9 Emission Group” and consist of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 TL denominations. The obverse (front) side of these banknotes always features a portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the republic, while the reverse (back) side depicts prominent figures who shaped Turkish science, culture, and art history.
